My ultimate weakness when it comes to sewing…..HEMS. Recently I decided to make a few purchases on sewing tools that will assist me in this process.
* Easy to attach to the sewing machine because it snaps on, the narrow hem foot takes lots of practice. I notice it does not work well with heavy weight material not material that is too light (polyester strect knits)
*When using the narrow hem foot, I’ve notice you have to hem your garment, then sew your pieces together.
*Once you get the hang of it, your hems look AWESOME. GREAT INVESTMENT, but please PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
My sewing journey has lead me to step out of the box on many things. This past week I watched Project Runway Australia Season 2 on YouTube. I laughed the entire time at this cast because of the colorful words that came out of their mouths….LOL. One thing I must say I’ve learned from the cast relating to sewing is: STEP OUT THE BOX ON CREATIVITY.
Episode #7 was my favorite. The designers had create an innovative outfit using the fresh food and packaging available from Melbourne’s Victoria Market. I was in awe at the garments designs at the end using only food.
William was one of my favorite designers because of the risk he took using color. William would buy fabric just for the color and not the textile. On a few judge reviews the color caused him to loose points but in the end it was a smart and successful signature style for him.
I personally would not have worn some of the designs by Anthony, but I had much respect for his creative mind. Everything he designed out way out the box, but it worked because it was his personal style and signature.

August 14, 2015 is the release date of the movie “Straight Outta Compton”. The movie will feature the group NWA as they emerged from the streets of Compton, California in the mid-1980s and revolutionizes Hip Hop culture with their music and tales about life in the hood.
To advertise the movie, the Straight Outta ________ app (www.straightouttasomewhere.com) was developed to promote the movie, and the sewing world jumped on it as well with “STRAIGHT OUTTA BOBBIN THREAD”
When I saw this meme I laughed so hard my niece thought something was wrong with me. How many times have we’ve been in the groove of sewing and the bobbin thread runs out? If focused we will refill it and keep sew, or we will just put the project down and it later becomes UFP (unfinished project).
